At the recent JTrade B2B Expo held in London, KosherLDN.com had the opportunity to witness firsthand the remarkable success and leadership of the Haredi community in the property development and real estate sectors. The event, which took place at ExCel Docklands, is Britain’s premier Jewish business expo, connecting entrepreneurs and professionals through exhibiting and networking opportunities.
The Haredi community’s influence spans across all facets of property, from development and investment to construction and cutting-edge property technology.
This leadership reflects a deep-rooted tradition of self-employment and community-focused economic activity, which has historically enabled the community to thrive in London’s competitive property market. Despite challenges related to planning and development policies, the community continues to adapt and innovate, ensuring its spatial and housing needs are met while contributing significantly to the local economy. The expo was represented by highly astute, eloquent and immaculate professionals who are clearly operating at the high end of the property development sector.

An inspiring highlight of the expo was the meeting with Bedside Kosher, a charitable organization dedicated to providing kosher meals to hospital patients and their visitors throughout London.
Founded by Ari Fefferkorn – the organizer of the JTrade Expo – and run by the highly enthusiastic Ushi Benedikt, Bedside Kosher addresses a critical gap in hospital care. While patients keeping kosher may receive appropriate meals, their visitors often do not have access to kosher food, even when staying overnight with loved ones.
Bedside Kosher’s well-organized system has delivered over 8,000 meals in the past two years, prepared by volunteers in kosher home kitchens and distributed through central units in Stamford Hill and Golders Green.
Ushi Benedikt explained how the charity efficiently targets only those in genuine need, ensuring resources are maximized to provide fresh, nutritious kosher meals free of charge. This initiative not only nourishes patients but also offers comfort and a sense of home during difficult hospital stays, embodying the spirit of community care and support.
This event not only showcased business success but also reinforced the importance of community-driven initiatives that enhance wellbeing and inclusion, such as Bedside Kosher’s vital work in ensuring securing much-needed kosher food within healthcare settings.
